Port to Port - Rules of the Ride

Riders MUST . . .

1.
Obey ALL road rules including
  • The wearing of an approved helmet
  • Giving way to pedestrians
  • Giving hand signals when turning right
  • Giving hand signals when turning right
  • Ride with at least one hand on the handlebars
  • Observe traffic signals
  • Obey all instructions from police, the ride director, motorcycle marshals and ambulance personnel.
    2.
    Wear their team number on the outside of their clothing on their backs at all times.
    3.
    Stay approximately 300 metres back from the lead vehicle at the front of the ride. If the lead vehicle slows down, YOU slow down.
    4.
    If bunches of more than 20 are forming, break up into smaller groups.

    Riders MUST NOT . . .

    5.
    Ride more than two abreast.
    6.
    Follow within two metres of a motor vehicle.
    7.
    Be drawn along by another vehicle.
    8.
    Ride over double lines.
    9.
    ALL RIDERS MUST BE OFF THE ROAD AT DUSK!!!

    Drivers/Support Crew MUST

    Obey ALL road rules.
    11.
    Show PATIENCE and CARE at ALL TIMES.
    12.
    Travel far enough back from riders so that you can stop in an emergency.
    13.
    Drive as close to the left-hand side of the road as possible when following riders.
    14.
    Obey ALL instructions from police, the ride director, the motorcycle marshals and ambulance personnel. Drivers/Support Crew MUST NOT . . .
    15.
    ATTEMPT TO PASS FOOD TO RIDERS FROM A MOVING VEHICLE.
